Circle Bash: Developer Spotlight with Edlix Studios

Here we are, back with yet another exciting Developer Spotlight! Today we are taking a moment to shine the spotlight on Circle Bash by Edlix Studios! Before we start we would like to thank Eduard for collaborating with us and for taking the time to talk with us about Circle Bash! 😃

Thanks Eduard – Let’s go!

*Some answers have been edited for clarity.

/// Thank you for taking part in our latest Developer Spotlight! Before we start talking about Circle Bash, could you please start by telling us a little about yourself and why you are making games?

My name is Eduard Albrecht, and my passion lies in Games.

When I was 2 years old back in the early ’90s, my dad bought me a SEGA Master System with the one and only Sonic the Hedgehog. I totally lost my young self in gaming, so when I grew up and started to understand the English language I decided to create my own games.

/// Moving on to Circle Bash, in a nutshell, what is this new game all about?

Circle Bash is a hyper-casual game. It’s designed to be played for 5 – 10 min. Just when waiting for the bus or the train and it is super easy to handle.

You can play the whole game with just one finger, even when you have a big phone😀 At the moment I’m creating new game modes so Circle Bash players/users don’t get bored.

/// Every game has a backstory, and we would love to know the story behind Circle Bash! Why did you choose to make this game?

These days you need an internet connection for almost anything to work which is why I chose to design Circle Bash as a fully offline game.

Sure, if you are offline I won’t receive any revenue from Ads but I think well, that doesn’t matter. The advertisements I show within Circle Bash are not for me to get rich, I am showing advertisements so that I can hopefully start developing fun games fulltime.

I chose to make games in the hyper-casual genre, because

1. I for myself enjoy playing hyper-casual games on my phone.
2. Hyper casual games are very popular and trending.

/// Are there any funny or exciting episodes from the development phase of Circle Bash that you can share with us?

Ehm… yeah! One of my best friends visited me for a beer.

I told him about Circle Bash, and what I had already done and while I was talking with him he started playing the very popular game aa. In my opinion, aa is a similar game to Knife Hit and so I got my idea from the first game mode “Arrow”.

Circle Bash is not a copy of the game, so the gameplay is not the same, but the core idea was born from inspiration taken from these two games.

/// Where from here? Is there anything you would like to add to Circle Bash in the future, or perhaps even a new game on the horizon?

Yes for sure. I am planning to add over 200 unlockable characters, up to 15 power-ups or traps, a few more circles/polygons as enemies and several new game modes.

As for other games, there are already tons of ideas in my head, if Circle Bash is a success I will try to make a game for Desktop Devices and Consoles.

/// Are there any secret developer tips for playing Circle Bash you could give our readers?

Yes! Keep Circle Bash up to date and maybe you will be able to find a glitch that lets you reach even more points. Like in the game mode “Arrow”.

I tried and debug this game mode over 100 times and everything seemed to be working perfectly. After uploading the update to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store I discovered that there was a glitch players could use to gain points and coins 3x faster than expected.

/// A question you would like to ask your future self next time we shine the spotlight your way!

Did you start creating games for Consoles? 🤔

Thanks again to Eduard for participating in our Developer Spotlight, and for taking the time to talk with us about Circle Bash! We look forward to talking with you again sometime soon! 😃
