VVVVVV by Terry Cavanagh – Review

Question! How do you read this? (VVVVVV) To be completely honest, until just a few days ago we didn’t know either, but now… Now that we do know, we wish we could forget… This is our review of VVVVVV by Terry Cavanagh.

VVVVVV is a dungeon type RPG (Role Play Game) set in a maze like dimension somewhere far out in space. Your mission in this game, is to explore through these dungeons in search of your lost crew who were randomly teleported when your ship collided with some unidentified “turbulence.”

If this doesn’t sound “good” enough, the levels you’re required to search through are filled with Spikes – don’t these 👉 (VVVVVV) look a little like spikes? – making this one insanely difficult game to play.

On the bright side, this game is filled with checkpoints, and also has a fair few teleporters, allowing you to quickly get from A to B without going through the same hellish route twice. Also, you’re given a map which is added to as you pass through levels allowing you to get a fairly good idea of what’s going on…

Terry Cavanagh is an awesome guy but the games he makes are not nearly as friendly as he is… VVVVVV or (Spike, Spike, Spike, Spike…) as we now call it is no doubt the hardest smartphone RPG we’ve ever played, and may stay so for a long, long time to come…

If you like hard games this one is a no brainer, get VVVVVV. After playing this game for 10 minutes, every other smartphone RPG you’ve ever played will no doubt seem like child’s play…
