UltraBounce! – Bounce, Collect, and try not to get Spiked…😫

The middle is almost always the best place to be. If you can’t decide between two extremes often taking the middle route between the two will give you a little of the best of both worlds. Unfortunately, this doesn’t always work…

UltraBounce! is a game you have likely already played at some point during your lifetime as a gamer. Centered around bouncing a glowing ball up an obstacle-filled chasm, your mission in this game is to collect glowing stars as you carefully make your way up to a shiny portal at the end of each level.

The game is played by touching and dragging anywhere on the screen of your device in order to draw a line which acts as a sort of trampoline that bounces your player up the screen. A great system on mobile!

Unlike most games we’ve played, where the smaller the line you draw the higher your player bounces, UltraBounce! works in the opposite manner where bigger is always better. Although slightly tricky at first for more experienced players, this is great for new players who don’t have the skill to land their ball on a small surface area.

Now, moving on to the design. In our opinion, the design looks to be a cross between two distinctly different worlds. The simplistic world of casual arcade style games and the artistic world of games such as Sky Dancer …and unfortunately, the results aren’t the best…

Personally, we wish the developers had have chosen one path, (or style), and stuck with it. The UI is a simple arcade style and yet the background, obstacles, and player all seem to be artistic? Overall, we feel that this mixture of styles makes the game feel cheap and nasty, Not good.😕

UltraBounce! isn’t a bad game. The gameplay system is solid, the controls are great, and there seems to be enough functionality to keep players such as ourselves interested. However, we do feel that the graphics could be limiting this game’s potential just a little… ok maybe a lot…😅
