Twist by Ketchapp – Review

Today we’re reviewing what may be, one of the “most famous” games we’ve ever reviewed on Edamame Reviews. This game is so popular it’s actually quite amazing we haven’t reviewed it up until now… This is our review of Twist.

When we first saw Twist, all we could say was “Wow…😮” At first glance the game looks like a 2D game, but taking a closer look, it also looks like a 3D game.

At the time of Twist’s release, though there were “some” games using the “now” insanely popular 2D/3D graphics, this type of design was relatively new, making what the developers of Twist managed to pull off truly amazing.

When you first begin to play Twist, if you’re like us, you’ll probably be disappointed. Being one of the first games to use 2D/3D graphics, the shading and lighting required to create a sense of depth isn’t all that good, making it difficult to judge distance, which is one of – “if not the most” – important factor of this game.

For those of you who haven’t seen the video above, twist is played by rhythmically tapping on the left or right half of your screen in order to rotate a circular tube like structure made of platforms. Your job in this game is to prevent a dark gray ball from rolling off the stage by quickly switching around the stages in the tube so as to prevent the ball from falling.

At first this simple task can be quite tedious, but in time the “now” relatively low level 2D/3D graphics become easier and easier to understand, and before you know it you’re addicted.

One way to tell whether a game is truly awesome it so play it after it’s a little out dated. If the developers of twist were to remake the game, we could be 100% certain that it would be much better than the original.
