Tokimeter – Showing you just how hard it is to get a Girlfriend…

Have you ever wondered how hard it is for guys to get a girlfriend? Today, we’ve got a game that does a surprisingly entertaining job of illustrating just a few of the hardships 50% of the world’s population go through. Liking all of her selfies on Instagram, going to pick up the same book at the same time and “accidentally” touching hands, as well as always being ready for her on that nauseating bus ride is just the beginning…

Tokimeter (or ときめーたー in Japanese) is yet another silly (yet strikingly realistic in some areas) simulation game from hap Inc. With no instructions or in-game tutorial, this game throws you in at the deep end with little more than your sense of romance as guidance. …a lot like dating in real life…😭

Each level throws you into a situation in which you are required to find the most romantic outcome… or else…💀

With a set time limit in which you are required to complete each level, Tokimeter can be cleared by completing 17 randomly selected levels without messing up. For players like us who sometimes need a little help when it comes to romance, you are given 2 retry chances per game, and if you really don’t know what to do, you can always ask your (in-game) grandfather for advice.

About half of the levels can be cleared via basic logic. If you know that ( 1 + 2 = 3 ) you should be all right. The other half will probably require you to have some knowledge of Japanese Manga or Anime. The last level, however, requires you to know potentially the most popular Anime Movie of all time in Japan “Your Name” (or 君に名は in Japanese).

⚠️ For those of you who haven’t watched “Your Name”, spoiler alert!

The last level requires you to drag back the timer positioned at the top of your screen, taking you back in time where you can save your girlfriend from a falling meteor. (Pretty much the main plot in Your Name)

The Conclusion

For anyone interested in simulating the sad life of a Japanese high school boy, this is the game for you. Although it probably isn’t going to be all that different from the life of a high school boy in the USA, UK, Australia, Canada, or anywhere else in the world…
