Starlit Adventures

2D platformers made with 3D graphics just seem to get better and better. Starlit Adventures by Rockhead Games is one of the best 2D/3D platformers we have ever reviewed.

Mounted upon a massive mole, your mission is to dig through tunnels infested with super cute enemies, to retrieve treasure hidden deep within the tunnels of the cave.

Your mega mole can dig left right and directly down. Unfortunately he normally cannot jump, which can be a real pain when there is treasure just one block above your player’s head…

Your player is also cool. Before a level you can change his costume, allowing him to shoot arrows, drop bombs, and do much much more. There is one costume that allows the you to jump, which is useful when collecting treasure, but is essentially useless when confronted with an enemy…

The first 3 basic costumes are free and are given to you pretty much straight away. Unfortunately for stingy players, the rest of them are much harder to get and are probably something you’ll have to buy if you really like the game.

If you’re after a console grade platformer for your mobile device, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better game than this.

For developers, this is what is now possible on mobile devices! Imagine what the future holds for us…
