The Interview

/// Thanks for taking the time to talk to us about Color Dunk 3D! Could you kick-start this interview by telling us a little about your studio, yourself, and what drew you into the gaming industry?

Hypemasters is a studio formed by industry professionals. Founding members, Boris, Sergii & Ivan, wanted to make a studio based around fast-paced production & fun gameplay. We are starting off from small & snackable games – the plan is to test ourselves as a team, make our processes smooth & find our strengths. Once we feel confident, we plan to do other projects, more complex and long-lasting.

/// Ok, let’s start talking about Color Dunk 3D. What are the highlights of your latest release?

The latest release, surprise-surprise, has bug fixes! Additionally, we have reworked game balance, so that new balls don’t get revealed too early in the game.

/// What was the core idea or inspiration behind Color Dunk 3D? And perhaps more importantly, where do you find inspiration for your games in general?

Color Dunk 3D was inspired by awesome basketball games of the past. As a team, we were big fans of them & decided that the world needs to see another basketball game but… in 3D!

In general, our inspiration comes from many places. Sometimes, we see a game that we really like in the top charts. Then we explore ways in which we could make something different, yet similar. Sometimes, we are inspired by games from PC & Consoles. Nintendo games are a perfect example.

/// How long was Color Dunk 3D in development for? And are there any interesting and/or exciting moments or experiences you would like to share with us from that time?

It took longer than it should have Two months, to be precise. We spent a lot of time developing new tech that generates levels automatically. While it sounded cool, it didn’t give much to the game. We saw that adding ducks that you hit was a lot more impactful for keeping players interested.

/// What software, developer-tools, or black-magic(?) did you use when making Color Dunk 3D? Is there anything you would like to share with the developers who read Edamame Reviews?

Unity to develop the game & shamanism to market it

/// Is there any secret “developer-advice” you can give our lucky players who read this interview?

Choose your features accurately. Think of player-experience first, before you throw resources into developing something difficult.

/// What can we expect to see in Color Dunk 3D or from Hypemasters in the not so distant future? What do we have to look forward to next?

Expect us to rise to top charts pretty soon! Our goal is to make games that would be appealing to so many different people!

Edamame: Based on how cool Color Dunk 3D is, we have no doubts about you guys rising up the charts very quickly…

/// Lastly, is there anything you would like to say to our awesome team of Writers, Developers, and Supporters who keep Edamame Reviews up and running?

Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and then speak to us. We love your professionalism & the fact that you are centered around fun games The whole team loves your work!
