Hamza Meer’s review of Darthy

Ahh Darthy, I actually waited quite long for this game to come out, and it was definitely worth the wait!

Although it’s very similar to everyday platformers, certain features of Darthy just make it stand out.

You wake up in the hospital and must go on an adventure to save your robot friends’ souls (do robots have souls?)

Gameplay is pretty straightforward. Move left and right, jump around, and occasionally use your rocket booster to destroy enemies! But you’ll never get too comfortable because you won’t get the time to stand around staring at your robot friends! The game will constantly be moving forward, so if you get too lazy, game over! Sort of…

When it comes to the graphics, personally I think the art is amazing! For the old school gamers, the pixel graphics were beautifully pulled off.  Another really cool aspect of Darthy was the Splinter Cell feel to it. You can’t really see too well further than the light around Darthy, but that’s what gives the game its suspenseful feel.

You really have to be careful with Darthy, some of the simplest things kept me restarting over and over, it really gets difficult at certain points! I also really liked how this game wasn’t “running endlessly towards some pointless score” type of game! At frequent checkpoints, you get to save your progress up to where you reach in the game.

Finally, the best aspect of Darthy was that there wasn’t just one type of gameplay, there were many!

From rolling around the floor, to bouncing across rooms, to flying a super fast rocket, the game never lets you get bored!

To sum it up, for platform level game fans like me, you should definitely get Darthy. You’ll be glad you got to experience this pixel platformer and will finish it with a happy face!
