Banana Bunch – Literally Doodle Jump… with Monkeys…

When was the last time you enjoyed a nice long game of Doodle Jump…? If you’re interested in finding out just how much your skills as a jumper have diminished since you last played, today we’ve got just the game for you.

Banana Bunch is a game that can literally be described as Doodle Jump + Monkeys. Although you could also describe Banana Bunch as a “shameless rip-off” of the original game, since we all already know this, let’s just focus on what’s different!

For one, Banana Bunch is a far cleaner game than Doodle Jump ever was. With a much simpler 2D design that could almost be described as minimalist, this game definitely looks like a game from 2017. Unlike Doodle Jump which was released back in 2009…

In addition to better graphics, the gameplay system has also been modified in order to fit in better with the mobile gaming standards of 2017. You can no longer shoot up at enemies by tapping on the screen of your device, and the game seems to make it a lot harder to die overall. Less breaking platforms, fewer enemies, and more powerups!

Powerups in this game are everywhere! However, just like everything in life, you can sometimes have too much of a good thing. Twice we managed to collect a chain of 4-5 powerups which sent our score shooting through the roof together with our player. Although arguably the best moment during our testing phase, the graphics began moving so fast the screen became almost painful to look at…

We’re not sure whether this is even fixable, (we’ve experienced the same issue in many different games), but it would be great if a developer figured out a way to prevent this from happening.

The Conclusion

If you’re after a game that has taken all the good out of a classic game and has made it even better, Banana Bunch is the way to go! Although for some it may never be as good as the original, we kind of like having more powerups than our eyeballs can handle… Literally… 😜
